Behavior Plan Playbook

About Behavior Plan Playbook

A reference for school teams on functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, and the data and meetings around them.

Why this site exists

When a student's behavior gets in the way of learning, teachers are asked to observe, record, write, and review: an assessment, a plan, a stack of data sheets, and a meeting. The federal rules ask the IEP team to consider positive behavioral supports for these students and describe a few specific steps, then leave most of the practice to states and districts. Advice is scattered across training decks, state manuals, and research summaries. We put the process in one place, in plain language, with the sources named.

Who it is for

Teachers, paraprofessionals, case managers, school counselors, and administrators who take part in a behavior assessment or plan, and families who want to understand one. The guides describe processes, checklists, and sample wording. Your district sets the exact forms and procedures.

How it is run

Behavior Plan Playbook is independent. It has no ads, no affiliate links, and nothing for sale. Guides are written by the editorial desk, currently Tessa Holloway, and re-checked on the schedule on the how we review page.

What it does not do

It does not give legal, psychological, medical, or clinical advice. It does not describe or recommend medication, therapy, restraint, or seclusion. It does not replace your district procedures, your IEP team, a school psychologist, or a board certified behavior analyst. Examples are invented and never use real student information. If anyone is in immediate danger, follow your school's safety procedures and call emergency services.
